linguistics is the scientific study of language .It IS divisible into 4 branches : sociolinguistics , applied linguistics , psycholinguistics and neuro linguistics .First , sociolinguistics is the study of the relationship between language and society .It is concerned with how language use interacts with or is affected by social factors such as gender , ethnicity  age or social class .Psycholinguistics is the field in which researchers investigate the psychological processes involved in the use of language comprehension , language production and first and second language acquisition .Applied linguistics is the study that looks at how linguistics can help understand real -life problems in areas such as : pschology , sociology and education .In every day practice ; professionals whose work involves language may find themselves in difficult or problematic situations with no evident standards, measures to take .In the course of employing linguistics insights to find solutions to problems of language use in diversity of contexts , one becomes involved in what is known as an applied linguistics .
